Calculations on House Economics happen in your browser. The inputs you enter into a calculator stay in your browser’s local storage so they persist between visits and across calculators that share fields.

What we store locally

We use your browser’s localStorage to persist your calculator inputs. These values stay on your device and are only sent to us if you choose to attach them to a problem report (see below). The Reset button on each calculator clears that calculator’s inputs (fields shared across calculators, like home price, are kept). If you switch to dark mode, that choice is saved there too, under he:theme. To clear everything, use your browser’s site settings, or DevTools → Application → Local Storage → delete keys starting with he:.

Problem reports

The Report a problem links send us a short report: the type of problem, what you wrote, the page address, and your browser and screen size. On a calculator you can tick a box to include the numbers on that page so we can reproduce what you saw; nothing is attached unless you tick it, and the form shows exactly what would be sent. Your email is optional and only used to reply to you.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to filter out spam bots. It checks your browser when the form opens, usually without asking you to do anything, and doesn’t track you across sites. Reports are delivered to our email inbox and kept only as long as we need them to fix the problem.

Hosting and analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To serve pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, referring URL, requested page). We don’t receive raw request logs; we only see aggregate traffic numbers.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages get used. It doesn’t set cookies, doesn’t use local storage, and doesn’t fingerprint or track you across sites. It reports aggregate page views, referrers, browser, operating system, device type, country, and page-load performance. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Third-party services

The site loads Google Fonts (Fraunces and DM Sans) from Google’s CDN. Google sees your IP and user agent when your browser fetches the fonts. If this bothers you, most browsers let you block external font loading.

Cookies and accounts

The site does not require an account and does not set cookies for tracking or advertising. If Cloudflare’s security checks challenge your browser, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie. We don’t sell or share personal information.

Do Not Track

We don’t track you across sites, so we treat every visitor as if Do Not Track were on. The site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends the signal.

Affiliate links

If we add affiliate links in the future, the affiliate provider may set its own cookies when you click through. Such links will be disclosed visibly on the page they appear on.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change what we collect or share, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
